D.O.Ca. RIOJA

The zone of production of the D.O.Ca. RIOJA is placed in the North of Spain, to both margins of the river Ebro. Three subfields exist with wine differentiated characteristics: RIOJA ALAVESA, RIOJA ALTA and RIOJA BAJA.                            The whole area benefits from the confluence of two climates as opposite as the Atlantic and Mediterranean, providing annual rainfall and mild temperatures somewhat above 400 l/m2, ideal conditions for the development of the vine.                                     The Tempranillo grape is considered native to La Rioja, is the most typical variety of this denomination, foundation of the identity of its red wines and one of the world's great noble varieties. It occupies more than 75% of the acreage and is enologically versatile, capable of producing wines with long aging, very balanced in alcohol, color and acidity, and a frank palate, soft and fruity, which evolves velvety when aged.
